All function
This knife has no frills, just function. It is an amazing cutting tool. The ergonomics are excellent and the blade geometry is perfection. Not a flashy choice, but a very useful EDC. I work in construction and carry this every day. I managed to snag the rex 45 version, but any version of this knife is awesome
What a great knife!
Owned this for almost a year so I thought it was time to put in my pennies.
Amazing fit and finish of course.
Perfect in the hand and jimping & choil let you ride up on the blade real nice.
I think it would be criminal to have any handle less than G10 but I do understand costs. I just can't stand the FRN feel. It's like putting plastic covers on your leather couch.

do wish it would flick a little bit but I guess it is a price to pay for the super-strong locking back (which I wish my Para 3 could have).
I like the S30V a lot but my next Native will have S110V (like my Para which I find easy to keep sharp on stone).
I have to be carefull getting in and out of my 0000 with leather steering wheel. Both the Native and Para ride a little high and I have scraped the leather with the clips. Partially my fault since I like the seat to sit high.
Never have been a Spydie guy but warming up to the style. Have 3 and will add more.
Blade HQ is the only place to buy. Videos rock, site is fast, and service is great.
Feels as good in the hand as.....
After having two other natives in frn, I was left longer for a higher end feel. The milling in the carbon fiber boosts this over the top, with a great steel to boot!
Fantastic!
I absolutely love this knife! The way it fits in my hand for the size is great. This is definitely a knife I would buy again if I lost mine.
Best Spyderco for EDC
I have the S35vn Model.
I have been after this blade for at least 5 years. Got it little over 6 months ago new and well I love it. Nice strong blade. Backlock is solid and secure. The tip is thicker and more stout then most others. Holds a damn fine edge and its small enough and yet big enough to be a great EDC blade. I love it so much I am going to be adding a 2nd to have a…

back up if this ever goes out. Which I highly doubt it will. I highly recommend this great EDC blade!
A little heavy for its size but still great
Ergonomically the Native 5 is great, if you are looking for a workhorse that also looks great this is a great small-midsized choice. There isn't really any extra bells and whistles as far as action goes, its pretty much always a slow opener and for me there un-spyderflickable (but that has more to do with design choice because it is a backlock). love the knife mine is s35vn and… read more I have carried it a lot in the past 3 years.
My favorite spyderco I own.
Out of all of my spyderco knives this is my favorite design. Not my favorite spyderco in my collection but my favorite to use. It’s built like a tank and the perfect size. It fits my hand perfect and is not so big that it gets in the way of itself. If spyderco will ever make a dragonfly 2 xl the exact size as the native 5 it will be by far my favorite.
Reliable edc knife
I've had my native 5 in g-10 since New Years and so far has proven to be the one knife in my collection I can 100% depend on.... Not a great action show piece and not the best looking but defidentlty the best when it comes to functionality
Better than I could have hoped!
I absolutely love this knife! It is the perfect size for an EDC blade. I love how the finger choil lets you choke up on the blade and provides plenty of handle while still keeping the blade at a good length. I haven't handled the light weight model so I can't speak for that, but I love how solid the G10 version is!
One of my favorites!
Bought this bad boy over the counter at BladeHQ... and I LOVE this knife (carrying it right now). Great steel, super solid lock back, fit and finish are excellent, love the choil, gimping is just right, and blade shape is beautiful. One complaint is the fasteners on the pocket clip don’t hold it tight, so it rotates slightly... plus it’s not deep carry at all so it sticks way… read more out of the pocket. I’ve been meaning to pick up an aftermarket deep carry clip for it. Regardless... I’d totally recommend it!
