Favorite Knife I Own!

Kody G.

I've been carrying a Benchmade Bailout for a while now and ordered the PM2 as an additional carry/collection piece. I've only had it for a day and I already love it. The blade came incredibly sharp, the pivot is perfectly smooth, blade fairly well centered, and the knife just feels amazing! Just one thing to note for anyone planning on buying this knife. The description above says read more S30V steel, but mine actually came with an S45VN blade. Not sure if this is just an error on the product info for Blade HQ, or if there is still a mix of S30V and S45VM models that are being shipped randomly. My only real complaint is the pocket clip, I wish it came with a deep carry clip from the factory, but this is a minor gripe.

One of my favorite knives, if not my most favored knife.

Edward S.

I was new to knife collecting when I purchased this knife, it was expensive for me. Over the past few years I've collected more than 20, $100+ knives. Each one has its own desirable characteristics. As far as quality of craftsmanship, design and materials this Para2 or PM2 as it's called is my favorite and has remained in my pocket know for several months.

This Para2 is incredible. The scales feel so great in your hand (might be a tab bit wide for those with smaller hands) and the S30V steel is really superior if you haven't experienced it before. I have used this knife pretty hard and it is still retaining it's edge really well. There are a few small chips in the edge, but it should have been annihilated with my use, and it is still read more sharp without any additional sharpening since taking it out of the box.

S30V DLC Camo G-10

Wesley K.

I knew what I was buying before I bought the Paramilitary 2. I really like the knife's design and Spyderco in general as a company. This is my honest review: I got my S30V DLC coated Para 2 engraved through Blade HQ. The only drawback is I had a small scratch on the opposite side of the blade that didn't get engraved. I chalked this up to being held in a vise while the blade got read more engraved. Which is what it is but still a small scratch on a brand new knife is a small annoyance. It's even more noticeable since the blade is DLC coated. My action isn't as smooth as I've seen other Para 2's but I believe w/ cleaning, lube, and time it will come around. All this said I'd buy another Para 2 in an instance! I just might skip the engraving on a DLC blade next time?

I have been carrying this PM2 for 2 years every single day. I am not kind to my blades and have totally destroyed more knives than I can count. This thing is a lightweight powerhouse. It takes some time to sharpen it but it holds an edge better than any of my other knives. If you are on the fence don't be, buy it with confidence.

I love this knife. It has great ergonomics, it cuts like no other knife I own atm. I love the way it opens, the sound it makes when the compression lock engages, to me it’s a perfect knife. I love spyderco. I love blade hq.

Late to the show

haven't had it for long just got it for my birthday, but seems like a sold knaf. I like bigger knives so this is in that range. its definitely a sharp blade, with a full flat grind it will be a cutter. think it gets a little thin in the blade at the tip but that also what makes it a great cutter. wish it had a sharpening choil could see it being a problem after years of sharpening. read more the only thing that is slightly annoying is that the lock pinches the meat of my finger when I flick it open. i like to rotate knives and have been carrying my 940-2 the last month, the para 2 doesn't have the same fidget factor.

1st spyderco

Love this knife and bladehq is a trusted dealer for spyderco knives. Great knife for your bugout bag, but in my opinion not the best knife for a edc. It is big, g-10 is hard on the pocket fabric, pocket clip need upgraded and the blade design is not the best for thrusting. Just my opinion.

GREAT KNIFE FOR EDC +

Terry T.

My first Spyderco purchase, after many days of research and some favorable comments from a relative that owns the Blue Para Mil 2. I am using this knife in an EDC mode in rotation with other knives. I am 75 yo and have owned a few knives. I still have my Paul knife from the 60's, and have owned other quality knives. I have always wanted to own a Spyderco mainly because it is made read more in the USA, and not because it is better than other USA made or internationally manufactured knives. This knife is perfect as an EDC. This knife is well made, perfect grinds, very sharp, grips well. It is almost broke in now and I know I will be quite satisfied with the way it opens and closes. ONE CON: I did have to use the “soldering iron' trick in order to change the orientation of the retention clip, and wish Spyderco would in some way let NEW owners know (instruction manual) how to remove retention and other screws. I am also very satisfied with BladeHQ's packaging, and looking forward to more transactions with this quality company.

I personally collect a ton of knives to use for all different occasions. This is my first second Spyderco knife, my first being the Ambitious. I absolutely fell in love with the ergonomics of the Para 2. This knife is lightweight and very thin in the pocket. The S30V blade steel comes super super sharp and holds an edge unlike any of my other knives. I love the compression lock read more and is becoming my other favorite besides the Benchmade axis lock. If you are looking for the perfect EDC this is the ONE !!!

It's truely a wonderful knife and it lives up to the hype. The ergos of the handle are outstanding and you feel like you have a real workhorse in your hands that is capable of anything. After watching some of the torture tests online I was confident that the DLC coating would be able to hold up to anything I could throw at it, so I got that model as I also like the aesthetics of read more it with the digicam G-10. Ultimately, I figure I'll get a sprint version down the line, so I'll have a satin blade then. I'm not really a camo guy, but the digicam grew on me the more I looked at reviews and I wanted something different than the standard black handle.

Blade is centered well and the lockup is vault tight with no blade play in any direction. I switched the carry almost immediately from tip down to tip up because it's my preferred carry style. I'm currently working on placing an order with STR for one of his titanium deep carry clips since I think the stock clip leaves a little more poking out of my pocket than I like.

For anyone that likes opening and closing their knife while bored (who doesn't) the PM2 really scratches that worry bead itch by presenting a lot of different options. I count 5 different ways to open the knife one handed! Normal opening via the Spyder hole, thumb flick, spyder flick with the middle/ring finger, spyder drop and compression-lock flick.

Anyway, great knife and one that is now part of my EDC rotation.

Great worker knife!

PM2 is as great as all the video reviews say

George F.

I’ve had my PM2 for over 2 years now and it has been a fantastic knife. It’s not heavy in the pocket but it is a heavy duty knife. I mainly use it as my hiking and camping knife. It came extremely sharp out of the box and it holds an edge for a long time. I’ve only had to sharpen it once so far and it took a razor sharp edge again on Spyderco’s sharp maker. The only knock read more I would give it is the G10 messes up my jeans pocket but since it is not an EDC knife for me I didn’t take a star away. If I was using it as an EDC I would give it 4 stars because of what the G10 does to my pocket and the size is a little big if you are wearing shorts. All in all, a must have knife if you want something rugged for outdoor adventures.

It’s been over two years since this amazing knife became a part of my collection and surprisingly, it’s has seen the most EDC time of all. Top contenders were the FDE Griptillian and the ZT0850G. Para2 is the perfect weight, the black S30V blade with the digital camo G10 simply makes every day better and this world a better place!

This was the first Spyderco I ever bought and has been my edc ever since. I was leary of spending over $150 on a knife, but it's safe to say that the investment was worthwhile! The blade is super sharp out of the box (be careful!) and easy to resharpen. If you are looking at buying a nice knife that can take a beating, this is it!

The paramilitary 2 was not my first Spyderco knife, but it is by far my favorite. I have other high-end premium knives and the PM2 probably holds the most pocket time. Sturdy lightweight construction with a easily sharpenable blade that will hold its Edge. You will not be disappointed.

The PM2 is the first spyderco knife i own. Always used Kershaw before but wanted to climb up a couple of notches in the high end area. So it came to a PM2 with camo scales amd black blade, and i absolutely love it. Easy to flip, perfect size, great weight on it. And most of all...its always sharp as h*ll (ofc i sharpen it time to time) bit its realy durable. I myself realy recommend read more a PM2. Its def worth the dime ❤️

I’ve had this knife for several years and it has been an everyday carry for much of that time. I have th PM2 in several different steels, but the S30V black blade with Camo scales has seen the most pocket time. Spyderco hit it out of the park with the blade design and compression lock. Action is smooth and easy (and fun) one-handed opening. I can’t recommend this knife enough!

Spyderco Paramilitary 2. Best knife ever made.

Peter G.

This was my very first knife that I had seriously purchased. I've bought cheap Gerbers before, but their edge stays for maybe a day before I would resharpen them.
Once you buy a Spyderco you will never go back to a cheap knife again. This knife is by far the best knife ever manufactured. It was made to be put to work, and it definitely works. In the year and a half of owning read more this knife I've only sharpened it a few times. And even at those times it can still slice amazingly.
My second favorite feature of this knife is the "spydey flick." If you have never used a Spyderco knife with a compression lock, this is an experience. Once going back to holding other knifes and using the locking mechanism, they aren't as fast and definitely aren't as solid or as smooth as the Para2.
Overall, if you ever find yourself with some extra cash, or just want an actually good quality knife, look no further than the Para2. The best knife for the money by far.

Compression lock for the win.

Excellent blade shape and length for EDC. S30V is a wonderful steel. My hands are XL and the handle is very ergonomic. Choil and gimping is excellent. Blade centering is on point. The Paramilitary 2 is basically perfect.
Pros: Extremely ergonomic, amazing lock, looks great, sharp, high quality coating.
Cons: A little big for EDC use (personally), somewhat costly (but it's still totally worth it)
Special note is how great the compression lock is. It's extremely addicting to play with, but is also very practical for actually using the knife.
The read more paramilitary 2 has basically ruined every other knife for me, because it sets the bar so high. Buy it and you won't be disappointed!

I have nearly a dozen Spyderco’s that are in my daily EDC rotation or are in each car and truck I drive. I’m never without one on my hip or in my console tray or in my back packs. This was my first Spyderco knife and first one with S30V steel and I can say I'm super impressed! The blade takes a wicked edge and will hold it through lots of cutting. The handle is great as well. The g10 scales are just the right amount of rough so the knife feels secure in hand. I like how Spyderco included a nice finger choil so you can choke up on the knife if you needed to. read more There's a reason it's a top seller; it's a great knife

I just got this knife for Christmas and it immediately became my EDC. I love the steel and it holds a great edge. The only thing I didn’t like was the clip. I am a fan of deep carry clips because people at work get wherry when they see I have a knife. Because Spyderco does not have a deep carry option (this is my reason for 4 stars instead of 5), I went with the Casey Lynch short read more deep carry clip and I love it. This will definitely remain my go to EDC.

I'm sure you all know about this knife by now, so I'll just say that the way this thing locks into your hand is amazing, the way it cuts is amazing, the lock is super sturdy, and the DLC coating shakes off all but the worst abrasions. This is a great knife.

I wrote a short novel about the accolades of the knife, listed all of the harsh environments I’ve used it in. Wrote about how I’ve carried it for over 500 days straight and used the piss out of it, and it still looks new. Wrote about how in the 500 days of heavy use and carry I’ve never had to sharpen it, or break it apart and clean it. I even wrote about how it was such a read more great knife that I was writing this review because I’m here buying my second one to keep at home while I’m offshore in the Gulf of Mexico on the oil rigs.

But I’m not typing that shit again.

Point is; this knife is the bomb. I am madly in love with it. And you should by it.

Thank you Spyderco, for turning me into a knife fanatic.

I got my para2 about 6 months ago, I was kind of skeptical, I wanted a military at the time but found a paramilitary 2 used for a very good price so I got it. I had low expectations but boy was I shocked, the first flick of the spydie hole and I was sold. The action on this thing is incredible, nice grippy g10. I had g10 handles before but none have compared to Spyderco, save for read more maybe my junglas. If you are looking at this model then do it! I have many knives at least a dozen are worth more than this and yet I still find myself picking this for my EDC. Buy it and buy it here, there are alot if fakes out there and some are unrealistically close to the originals. Bladehq will make it so you don't have to second guess if you got a fake for months like I did with my para2. Luckily I got a real one but that's not usually the case when the price seems to good.

Just Incredible!

Richard W.

Let me start by saying I collect knives and I own around 30 folding knives, most of which are Kershaw. The Paramilitary 2 is without a doubt THE best knife I own, knocking my Cold Steel Recon 1 out of first place.
The PM 2 is very lightweight, has exceptional ergonomics, S30V blade steel, and is smooth as silk when you deploy it. The Compression Lock is as solid of a locking read more system as their is and feels every bit as solid as the Triad lock on my Recon 1 which is saying something.
This knife's action is addictive because of the smoothness and speed of deployment. I can honestly say that my knife collecting just slowed down substantially because I have found the perfect knife. I should've bought this knife years ago. Believe the hype of the PM 2 and buy it if you're on the fence. Heck, buy it if you aren't on the fence, it is that good.

Awesome Knife!

Justin W.

If you are on the fence about this knife like I was don't be. I have several other spydercos that I really enjoy but this one hit it out of the park. It is large enough to be good for whatever task you need or self defense but small enough to be carried comfortably in EDC. Mine came super sharp out of the box with a smooth action. I will definitely carry this one more than my Delica read more 4 or Manix 2. The G10 is great, grippy but not too grippy. The DLC is smooth and nice looking. We will see how it holds up but I am not worried about it. The handle is slightly larger than it needs to be for the blade size but thats the only minor complaint I can even think of. BladeHQ was awesome, I ordered on Friday around lunch and they shipped it Sat. It arrived on Monday. Cant get much better than that for free shipping!

This knife was recommended to me as my first quality EDC, and I could not be happier! Hair-shaving sharp right out of the box, and the tolerances could not be any tighter. I was worried about the digi-cam pattern because it is random, but I am very happy with the mix of colors on the scales. I will not order a knife from any other site. Blade HQ is awesome!

This was my first Para 2. I was shocked when I held it for the first time. I saw the reviews and listened to all the guys on YouTube praise this knife. They were right. Every single thing about this knife is nothing short of a knife miracle. The lockup, the deployment, handle material, blade steel, weight and every other part of this knife is perfection. If you love knives you'll read more understand completely. I carried an Endura everyday for years until I got this. A Para 2 hasn't left my pocket since. I honestly can't see another knife ever taking its place. It's that freaking good. I have a lot of fantastic knives but none are as well rounded as this and my brown sprint run Para 2. I love them both. If my wife told me I had to get rid of ALL my knives and keep only one, it would be a Para 2. I'm not even kidding. Perfection made in The United States of America. Almost brings me to tears.

Im impressed with this knife, great slicer. This knife was redicously sharp from the factory, a little touch up with my edge pro (mainly to polish the bevel) this thing is scary sharp with a needle like tip. s30v is a great choice in blade steel. For me It is a bit large for EDC however the overall quality and ergos out-weigh this. I believe another one is in my future!

I received this knife for Christmas from my now ex-girlfriend last year after dreaming about it for well over a year, but I digress.

It's hard to find enough American-made knife models(from any brand) that are well made and have premium steel. This knife is made in Golden, Co and you can feel it in your hands. The first time I opened it and felt the lockup, it was nothings read more short of rock solid, the detent that I felt upon closing it for the first time was the most satisfying feeling, and I feel it everytime I close it. The steel holds a razor edge and is easy to keep honed. Do yourself a favor and get a DMT pro-Aligner sharpening kit, it'll keep the black coating in perfect shape and keep your tool in perfect condition.

I recently lost a Torx screw on the handle that holds a standoff in place, and the customer service crew had me a baggy of screws out the next day.

TL;DR: Jump on this model when they release runs, if this particular model isn't availabe, each variation it just as perfect as this. You will not regret it.

Reason you should not buy this

You should not purchase this knife, so there is more for me. This is my favorite one out of all the PM2s. The digi pattern and black blade goes well with the "tacticool" look. Very smooth action. The compression lock is outstanding compared to most locks. I like the compression lock so much I sought out the Yojimbo 2 because it has the same features and feel. The S30V steel holds read more a wicked edge and is not to hard to sharpen on the Lansky Sharpening Kit which is available at the "you know where #BladeHQ. I already have three of this same model; one for my bug out bag, one for the car, and of course one for the pocket. This for some reason does not stay in stock for long. So when it is, I suggest you pick it up asap.

I've previously bought the satin version of this knife since it was the only one available. After browsing on BladeHQ's new arrival page for a minute or two I noticed this bad boy and instantly bought it. It's been 15 minutes and they are out of stock again. Can't wait to receive mine in the mail. THANK YOU BLADEHQ!
