Favorite Knife I Own!

Kody G.

I've been carrying a Benchmade Bailout for a while now and ordered the PM2 as an additional carry/collection piece. I've only had it for a day and I already love it. The blade came incredibly sharp, the pivot is perfectly smooth, blade fairly well centered, and the knife just feels amazing! Just one thing to note for anyone planning on buying this knife. The description above says read more S30V steel, but mine actually came with an S45VN blade. Not sure if this is just an error on the product info for Blade HQ, or if there is still a mix of S30V and S45VM models that are being shipped randomly. My only real complaint is the pocket clip, I wish it came with a deep carry clip from the factory, but this is a minor gripe.

Deep carry pocket clip?

Where could I get a deep pocket carry clip for this knife? I can’t seem to find one.

Best quality. Excellent service.

I received my PM2 today, perfect engraving, fast delivery. This knife came with the new S45VN steel, as another reviewer stated. I ordered Saturday and my knife arrived today, Tuesday. The knife came as stated, perfect action, no need for tuning. I'm still waiting on my flytanium natural Jade G10 scales to complete the look though. I've owned several Spyderco knives but this one read more is the best I've seen. If you are looking for a knife and you have the cash, don't think twice about getting this one. It will put a smile on your face and feel good in your pocket as well as your hand...not to mention making a great edc companion.

No hype.

No point in me telling you what you already know—the experience of this knife is flawless, and not much more can be said. Simple and ultra-comfortable design, perfect size and blade-handle ratio, perfect machining and tolerances, perfect lock, perfect steel.

Even Bugout has its issues, like squishy scales and omega springs being a point of failure—but PM2 is built to read more never fail to deliver, and it doesn't. Stop scrolling and get it.

As good as they say if not better

I have not been friendly to this knife. It sees anything and everything when I need to make a cut for work or my own auto projects, and it slices like nothing else. The flat grind makes this a laser beam, with great blade length for almost any folding knife task. Mine is recent so it has the s45vn which was fairly easy to sharpen and it gets SCARY sharp. The action is so smooth, read more the lockup is so strong and tight, zero blade play, and my knife came this way from the factory. I didn't have to take it apart nor tighten anything, and it's just as good now as it was the day I opened it. Fits superbly well in larger hands, I honestly prefer it to my para 3 LW. Another thing people don't seem to mention is the blade on the PM2 has a very deep finger choil that feels more secure than the para 3's. This truly is one of if not the best folding knives ever made. My favorite Spyderco hands down.

I finally pulled the trigger and got the hard to get para2! I ordered this exact one because every other one was sold out. So I hurried and bought it. I love everything about this knife. I carry it everyday. I almost don’t want to use it because it’s so beautiful. Super scary sharp. Love the g10 texture scales. The only thing that is strange is that I noticed that the steel read more is in
CPM S 45 VN instead of S 30 V… which is no big deal at all. So I was just a little bit confused by that because I can’t find this knife with S45VN on here. But I’d rather have S45VN anyways. It came super super fast in the mail. Like 2 days witch is very fast. So I was so happy about that. Thanks BHQ. Hopefully you guys will get some hardware back in stock soon so I can customize this bad boy up!

I gotta case of the Sasquatch hands! So it was great to find a folder that's comfortable in hand, especially with a choil. Liked this one so much, I already bought another in S45vn just for the heck of it. You might say this one started a sickness cuz I also picked up a Military and a Tuff. I could not be happier with every aspect of the quality of these blades. In addition, read more it seems everything these days is delayed for one reason or another but not when you order from DLT. It's a great feeling to receive a new knife and have it be flawless in all categories out of the box. Centering, grind, sharpness, action, fit and finish on this knife are all outstanding. Couldn't ask for much more on an already great model.

I was new to knife collecting when I purchased this knife, it was expensive for me. Over the past few years I've collected more than 20, $100+ knives. Each one has its own desirable characteristics. As far as quality of craftsmanship, design and materials this Para2 or PM2 as it's called is my favorite and has remained in my pocket know for several months.

Same excellent F&F as all of my PM2s: great action: didn’t require any tuning right out of the box. Centering was spot on. Not enough experience yet with S45 but from what I’ve researched it should be very good. Fantastic service from DLT as always.

This is currently the "best" knife I own and my first with a powdered steel blade (really, anything better than D2). I arrived quite sharp for a factory edge, but, if you know how to sharpen, the blade takes a ridiculous edge and keeps it quite well. Shipped very quickly. overall, great experience with DLT!

Packed & shipped same day, safe & securely packaged, PM2 arrived flawless, 100% recommendation.

I just received my blacked out PM2 and it is amazing. Great build quality, sharp blade, and legendary compression lock. This run even came with blacked out liners and compression lock which really cleans up the lines of the knife. Weight for this size of a knife is very good as well. I'm still getting used to the thumb hole vs. thumb stud for deployment so I can't really rate deployment read more ease. Lock up is secure every time. I can't wait to start modifying mine!

Quite possibly the greatest EDC knife of all-time

Matt L.

Spyderco Paramilitary 2. I honestly find it pretty difficult to explain why exactly I love the PM2 so much. Maybe it is because haven't carried a knife that weighed over 4 oz in a couple of months. Or maybe because I just like this knife because of who gave it to me. Or maybe because this knife is the GOAT.
So, I will keep this short. Razor-sharp. Slicey blade. Quality steel. read more Super smooth. Awesome lock. Easy manipulations. Balanced well. Comfy / very grippy Ergonomics. Solid clip. Feels solid. Looks sexy. And that's it. The pm2 is a serious contender for my all-time favorite knife. Is it worth 160? Barely. But that is high praise coming from a cheapskate who doesn't think the bugout is worth 140. Would definitely recommend to all my rich friends (and the poor ones too) 96/100

Just Buy It

This Para2 is incredible. The scales feel so great in your hand (might be a tab bit wide for those with smaller hands) and the S30V steel is really superior if you haven't experienced it before. I have used this knife pretty hard and it is still retaining it's edge really well. There are a few small chips in the edge, but it should have been annihilated with my use, and it is still read more sharp without any additional sharpening since taking it out of the box.

Absolute Great Knife

SETH A.

The PM2 is a great knife! When I bought it I thought it was just going to be overrated. I've heard so many people talk about it and love it but I never thought it could've been that great. Right out of the box it was razor sharp. The mechanics behind it are absolutely amazing. I absolutely love the compression lock.10/10 recommend!

The geometry of happiness

Jordan S.

You buy a new knife hoping that this time it will be different. This time the purchase really will bring you happiness instead of just fleeting seratonin and eventual ambivalence. Well friend. This is finally your time. This knife is near minimalist engineering perfection. If brutalist architecture was a knife it would be the PM2...but like late 80's brutalism where a few curves read more were allowed. The action is a dream and it clacks open with satisfying finality. And the compression lock! I am forever sold and spoiled for any other type of lock...even my previously beloved axis lock has fallen to the forgotten dust of an unmarked tomb in light of the compression lock. What more can I say? Spyderco has channeled some dark and mysterious power to bring us this knife and now all you have to do is sit back and reap the benefits.

Pocket clip is a piece of junk

First off, this is a super amazing knife. It carries very well, and stay very sharp for a long time. The pocket clip is rubbish, I broke two within the first year. I eventually got a Lynch clip and it has worked really well so I highly recommend that if you buy this knife you buy an off brand clip like a Lynch clip.

I was a little skeptical about all the hype but now that I have it in hand I can honestly say that it pretty much lives up to the hype so far. Excellent lock, no blade wiggle, smooth action, ultra sharp, very pleasing to the eye, outstanding ergonomics. The Buck Spitfire and now this PM2 are my favorite EDC's without breaking the bank too badly. I feel this knife is worth what I read more paid and no counterfeits with Blade HQ. Thanks Blade HQ.

Perfection

I loved my para 3 so much I bought the para 2. The compression lock, imo, is one of the easiest, most ergonomic release mechanism among all the brands. The action on this was like silk out of the box. No blade play. Sharp! I will keep buying this brand because they seem to know how to get it right. The thumb hole is not a gimmick...much better than a thumb stud. Very attractive read more g10 handle. Very happy with DLT service.

This is an excellent tool for the job. Spyderco has always hit it out of the ballpark when it comes to designing knives for personal use. The Paramilitary 2 is the Goldilocks of knives, not too big, not too small. Just the right combination of everything. I highly recommend this knife.

Pretty little workhorse

Aaron v.

beautiful knife that was perfectly tuned and shaving sharp out of the box. The 110v has held an edge noticeably sharper and longer than my other 30v and 35v knives. the scales are grippy as all hell and are large enough that i can get a full grip with room to spare. All around a great knife and a pretty little beater

What's not to love?

Chris K.

What can I say? This probably one the most favorited EDC knives ever made. It certainly is mine. Fit and finish is top notch, everything fits together in perfect precision. There is zero blade play whatsoever, almost feels like a fixed blade when open, not even the slightest bit of wiggle on any axis. That is what impressed me the most. No need to comment on the blade really. Razor read more sharp, CPMS30V, still a favorite for most. The Spyderco compression lock is my favorite part, similar to a liner lock, but its on the top and locks into a large notch on the blade. Feels much sturdier than a typical liner lock. Overall this is probably one of the best out there.

A legend for a reason

Connor W.

I love this knife, it really is legendary among spyderco fans, and for good reason. Despite being very large, it pockets really well, and the full flat grind makes it a great slicer without it feeling like theres not enough steel behind the edge that it will be prone to breaking. Like with most spyderco knives, would recommend grabbing a Lynch Northwest deep carry clip to pair with read more it.

I got the knife in black coated version and it is great that the clip is also black providing a solid look.
Often struggled with shorter handles, but PM2 got it just right. The grip is great, it feels like an extension of my hand.
The blade is dead without any noticeable play. Came razor-sharp.
Fits nicely in a pocket due to the flat handle and absence of details that read more might catch parts of your clothes (like e.g. thumb-studs in other knives).
Long story short, if you don't own PM2 yet, you should.

The Top EDC Bar None

David W.

I have several EDC knives of different makes depending on what I'm doing, where I'm going and how I’m dressed. My main go-to and the jewel in my collection is the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 in S110V steel. Spydies have been a bit of an acquired taste for me but they're addictive. Yes, they take up a lot of real estate in your pocket and make digging for keys difficult. Yes, some read more are a bit heavy. Yes, they’re not pretty, but like an ugly dog you come to love them. And yes, opening with the Spydie hole and closing with a compression lock requires some practice. You get over all these things.

So far I’ve discovered several ways to open my PM2 one-handed--the plain thumb push, thumb/index pinch, thumb flick, index finger flick, middle finger flick and the swing open/wrist flick with the lock depressed. You'll find yourself fidgeting with the knife for hours perfecting these techniques. Once you've mastered them, you won't want to go back to other opening and locking mechanisms. The Spydie hole beats thumb studs hands down for easy opening. I also prefer it to flippers. With the clip positioned for tip-up carry the knife comes out of my pocket with my finger right over the hole to flick open. The compression lock is just as strong (or nearly as strong) as a back lock, axis lock, liner lock or ball-bearing lock and has the advantage of easy operation with one hand. My PM2 is faster, more positive and easier to deploy than my axis-lock Benchmade 940 or even my Kershaw Blur assisted opener, a liner lock that's basically a switchblade. The only knife that beats it is my Endura 4 with the Emerson Wave opener, but the Endura's lockback makes closing much more clumsy than the compression lock. All that said, the Spydie hole/compression lock combination beats any other action I'm aware of (a Spydie hole/axis lock would be worth looking at but the only one I'm aware of is the BM Griptilian which has a tacky feel. The Spyderco Manix 2 is good but quite hard to operate). Learning to love a Spyderco requires some practice and muscle memory but it’s worth it.

The ergonomics of the PM2 are second to none...my Benchmade 940, an excellent knife, seems wimpy in comparison. It fills your hand with a positive, controllable grip. The G-10 scales provide just the right amount of hold. The jimping on the thumb rise and finger choil allow you to choke up on the knife for finer control and cutting pressure. The wide flat profile of the blade is much better at slicing and dicing than slimmer blades. The fine, sharp tip of the blade is great for delicate cutting tasks. The blade has a 20-degree grind and can be made very sharp. S110V steel has edge retention that's second to none...the downsides are that it's rather brittle and very hard to sharpen. The brittleness isn't likely to be a problem unless you abuse the knife by prying or coming in contact with metal, and if your knife does become dull Spyderco will sharpen it for free--you just have to pay a $5 shipping charge. If the blade just requires a touch-up (mine did out of the box) I managed to bring it back to shaving-sharp with Sharpmaker fine stones and a leather strop. I also had to loosen the pivot screws just a smidge to get the blade to swing freely.

So there. This is IMO the best knife in the world for everyday carry and if I only owned one knife or was stranded on Gilligan’s Island, this would be it. I don't know how you could engineer a knife any better than this. It's a joy to own and well worth the money, you get a feeling of satisfaction every time you look at it or pull it from your pocket.

EDC Perfection

First off I'd like to compliment BladeHQ on their customer service, website layout, and social media presence. They are by far my favorite online knife retailer!
Now onto the knife. The pm2 is a fantastic knife for me since I like a little bit larger EDC knife as my primary. It is such a tough and well manufactured knife. The tolerances on mine are fantastic. When I received read more it, it was shaving sharp out of the box, and I only had to lube it for it to be free falling when I depress the compression lock. This is my first Spyderco, and it won't be my last. I am addicted to spydie-flicking this knife, its so satisfying!

Converted Spyderco fan.

I will admit that I have always passed on Spyderco just based upon that ugly hump and hole. I decided to finally try one based off of all of the positive reviews. Man, dies this knife feel great! For me, it feels amazing in the hand. I love how it deploys and I also like the lock. Time will tell if I like this steel.

Don't let your friends touch it.

Real story. Day 2 of having it, and I am showing it off to a friend. He was opening it and closing it. The 2nd time he cut his finger almost 1/4 of the way in like butter. He was bleeding something horrible. Glad my best friend was able to break in my blade :). But seriously, when you use this, be careful. It is wicked sharp. Another friend said "wow that thing is so smooth and read more strong". I am enjoying it. Will buy from Blade HQ in the future. This is my first knife.

This is my honest review: I got my S30V DLC coated Para 2 engraved through Blade HQ. The only drawback is I had a small scratch on the opposite side of the blade that didn't get engraved. I chalked this up to being held in a vise while the blade got read more engraved. Which is what it is but still a small scratch on a brand new knife is a small annoyance. It's even more noticeable since the blade is DLC coated. My action isn't as smooth as I've seen other Para 2's but I believe w/ cleaning, lube, and time it will come around. All this said I'd buy another Para 2 in an instance! I just might skip the engraving on a DLC blade next time?

Unfortunately, I lost my Benchmade 750 that I have owned for 20 years. Bought this Para 2 as a replacement, nice knife and about the same size and weight. I like the compression lock and overall, the knife feels solid. Let's see if I can get 20+ years out of this knife and not lose it this time.

Cheers.

A true gem

Absolutely love this knife. I'm not a big spyderco fan but this knife is great. It is super fun to play with and holds its edge for a really long time. It is a sturdy knife for what it is but is not a hard use knife. The point is fairly delicate.

Re: Blade HQ video review: “backwoodsie, pine... brown

Hmm. The handle is probably a shade of brown since much of our military and military-related equipment is now painted, PVD, anodized in colors that help our personnel in harms way avoid detection by blending into the local environment. Hence the popularity of Coyote Brown — which on video seems a bit lighter than the above color.

Side note: sometimes it’s function not read more fashion that guides our choices in gear

First PM2

This is my first PM2. I typically roll Osborne 940 and this is the other “god” of edc. There’s good reason for that. Blade shape is so much good belly. Love the grind. This is a great edc knife! The compression lock is a blast as well as giving this baby the ol spider flick. The blade steel? Speaks for itself. I don’t know when I’ll sharpen this thing but I haven’t had read more to yet.

First spydy and a stellar one at that. Loving the compresion lock and overall one-handedness. Came super sharp!

My first Syderco, P2, at first the blade felt bulky, but with a few flicks and a couple of days of carrying, it has found its way into my EDC. Super shape right out of the box, the camo G-10 scales are grippy and stylin'. It impressed me so much just ordered a Native 5, dark blue, in S110 V , I am a drop point junkie. Sold on Spyderco.

There are no words that I could write that can explain how wonderful this knife is. I have carried it every single day. In regards to worries about sharpening: I have not had too much trouble with a coarse diamond working my way up in grit on the Sharpmaker.

I highly recommend this knife. I open and close it approximately 1000 times per day. You'll figure out why when you read more get yours.

Worth 5 stars but......

So this knife is great overall but I did have the tip break off. The only thing is I wasent actually abusing it like every one else who knocks the tip off a blade. I was popping off the little plastic trim buttton cover on a P-2 automotive screw. This knife is the perfect size in hand and cuts great. The downside is the sharp point on the flat ground blade gets the material pretty read more thin. None the less Its still awesome and I will just make a tiny 1/8" tanto tip with it. Oh yah Blade HQ is awesome ....

Definitely my favorite spyderco knife, hands down! The compression lock system is awesome for single handed deployment. Buttery smooth action and just about the grippiest G10 scales of any knife. I'd say perfect ergonomics, as it fits in my hand perfectly and comfortably. I don't usually go for higher end knives, but my P2 was definitely worth every penny. I even got mine laser read more engraved with my name (with the army font), it's looks pretty awesome if I do say so myself ;)

I have been carrying this PM2 for 2 years every single day. I am not kind to my blades and have totally destroyed more knives than I can count. This thing is a lightweight powerhouse. It takes some time to sharpen it but it holds an edge better than any of my other knives. If you are on the fence don't be, buy it with confidence.

Great knife, so smoothe, had to order clip screws as one of the screws had a flat like place on it. Other than that great knife, 3.75 oz, but my scales show 3.88, carries so good in the pocket.

The para 2 design is my all time favorite folder out of many knife brands both high and low end. Nothing beats the bang for the buck that you get with the Para 2. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Just the Beginning!

Everything about this knife is amazing, except the scales. I purchased third party scales to replace the almost linen like textured scales this knife came with.

The edge is perfect, it's comfortable in hand, it's big but not obtrusive or unwieldy. I have used another Spyderco that is a little smaller than the Paramilitary 2 for years (discontinued) and this was an easy transition.

All read more in all, an excellent knife, but watch out because a little customization can make these things crazy cool, comfortable, and fun to handle.

This is one of my favorites.

I love this knife. It has great ergonomics, it cuts like no other knife I own atm. I love the way it opens, the sound it makes when the compression lock engages, to me it’s a perfect knife. I love spyderco. I love blade hq.

What a great knife

My first experience with a compression lock. I like it, I can flick open the blade without touching it. I always thought it was just hype surround PM2 but I now know why it’s the king. The blade has a great shape for slicing and piercing. The gimping is great. I like different grip options. if I want to Choke up i have the front choil+Ricasso grip or I can choke back.People say read more how the handle is so big compared to the blade, but I think this gives me the grip options. Get one. After a few years of denying I needed one, I recently decided to get a PM3 as well. Some places I visit have a 3” blade restriction and I want to comply and pm3 is 3”.

I hope to upgrade my scales sometime in the future and get some better steel.

Upon pulling this knife out of the bag i thought I was about to cream within my pants. Once exposed I nearly could believe my eyes. I put it in my hand, and a slow man pur came out of me ( I was alone and baked ). Snapping the blade into its ever so smooth and clean position I nearly fainted. The hype was indeed real. I had to rush to my computer and type this review before the read more initial feelings vanished like a good dream. Buy this and you will feel like a man again.

Late to the show

haven't had it for long just got it for my birthday, but seems like a sold knaf. I like bigger knives so this is in that range. its definitely a sharp blade, with a full flat grind it will be a cutter. think it gets a little thin in the blade at the tip but that also what makes it a great cutter. wish it had a sharpening choil could see it being a problem after years of sharpening. read more the only thing that is slightly annoying is that the lock pinches the meat of my finger when I flick it open. i like to rotate knives and have been carrying my 940-2 the last month, the para 2 doesn't have the same fidget factor.

I bought this knife because of all the hype around it and its a great knife. There is nothing I'd be afraid to do with this knife, it's built to go to work. It's got great ergonomics and a slicey blade.

It's okay

The blade to handle size is weird.
The needle point tip does not give me confidence in hand.
If it were cheaper I think I'd be more inclined to carry it more and not worry about breaking it.

If you don’t have a PM 2 yet I highly recommend this one! I love the scales and the steel is amazing. It can be a little difficult to get back to “hair popping” sharp but it holds it’s working edge forever. Very happy with this knife.

This was my first Paramilitary 2 purchase and I am in love. The knife came very sharp out of the box and the action is the best I have received on any spyderco yet. The blurple color is also very nice.

The go to EDC

Max N.

I bought this knife a few months back, and it has since been my go to EDC knife. I have put this thing through some hard use, and the blade is still out of the box sharp. The liner lock is one of the best lock options on the market. If I could only keep one knife from my collection, I would keep the PM2.

Absolutely love it!!!

Not only is this the first high-end knife I've ever bought, it's also the first knife I've ever bought on BladeHQ, and I absolutely adore this blade. The completely black aesthetic is awesome and that s30v steel is incredible. I've only sharpened this knife like 3 times. The compression lock is incredibly fun to play with, and the blade shape looks really cool!
