What separates a “survival knife” from other types of knives? Many knives can help you in an emergency but should that emergency not be immediately resolved, it becomes a survival situation and a matter of life or death. In a survival situation, extreme measures may be taken, tools may be stretched to their limits, and you may need to get resourceful with limited resources. Ordinary knives may not have the spine (no pun intended) to handle what you need them to do. Chances are, you won’t baby them. Picking a “survival knife” can seem a lot like hoping for the worst and preparing with the best, but there is no reason why a knife meant to survive heavy use can’t be used in more relaxed times. Survival knives will vary in size, shape, and design attributes, but they all embrace ruggedness, utility, and dependability.

The cutting edge is a MODified Scandinavian Grind, which is very effective for carving, skinning and other general woods work. With a rockwell hardness of 56-58, the ease of sharpening is astounding. That is if you ever get to sharpen the blade. On the exposed pommel, you will find a scraper specially designed by one of The Brothers of Bushcraft, for striking Ferro rods in a safe and efficient manner.
