Great at first..

After a year the blade tip is warping a little and the pocket clip has little retention. The knife has slipped out of my pocket a few times.

Incredible!!!

The Elementum with the Micarta feels awesome. Action is very snappy. The case and cloth are a special touch that really makes this an awesome gift for anyone that loves knives. The Elementum is affordable enough for someone wanting to get into knives without breaking the bank, and I am left handed and sadly the pocket clip is not reversible, but that would not stop me from buying read more more of these. The knife looks, feels, and performs way above the price.

Elementum & Micarta

I read and watched alot of reviews and this knife does not disappoint. The Micarta uplevels this knife, it came very sharp and while the frame lock is not my thing I am getting used to it. The action is solid on the flip and carries very well, standard deep pocket clip was a bonus. All good.

Detent

Ely E.

I like the knife a lot. The micarta is nice, the blade is sharp and has a nice profile. It the perfect size carry. I gave it three stars for two reasons. The detent on this knife was so stiff I had to pull the blade out with my fingers the first couple of time. I'm hoping the detent track will wear in over time but its almost unusable until that happens. All the reviews raved about read more the action so maybe I just got a dud. I'm not sure how much quality control you can expect with a $50 knife. The second negative for me was the pocket clip. Its right hand tip up only. The clip really digs into my fingers when trying to open the knife with the stiff flipper. This knife would have been five stars if I would have got the action seen in so many review videos.

Low cost price with high cost feel

I'm always somewhat skeptical of lower cost folding knives, having had some pretty bad ones in the past, however I was blown away by this knife! The action is buttery smooth, the micarta has great texture and doesn't feel like it will ever slip out of my hand, and the pocket clip has strong retention for a secure fit in my pocket. The blade has no play at all as well as a perfect read more center. The knife is also very easy to disassemble and reassemble for maintenance or modification if you're into that. So far I have no complaints with my elementum and will definitely be watching civivi.

Great value

Thoroughly impressed with this knife, especially at this price point. Awesome action, with very solid detente. Came very sharp, and I'm enjoying the deep carry clip. Will recommend to others.

Birthday gift

Received this knife as a birthday gift from my son. This knife out of the box is razor sharp, great in hand and smooth flipper. Well worth the price! Especially like the micarta handle will be my edc from here on out.

Amazing Knife

The Civivi Elementum is an absolute masterwork of affordable knives. The flipper action and detent leads to the knife flipping beautifully and the amazing hollow grind makes it a wonderful slicer. The micarta handles ensure that it will never come out of your hand even in wet conditions. Definitely a vaseline factory knife in the words of Nick Shabazz. This is also a relatively read more socially acceptable knife if that is something that you are worried about as it isn't huge and looks classy. All in all an excellent knife and a powerhouse in its price range, cannot recommend enough.

Finally got it

Richard K.

I have wanted an Elementum since I first saw it last year. I somehow seemed to be asleep at the wheel whenever they received some. I finally got the marbled carbon fiber, but really wanted Micarta. One day, while doing my best to avoid work, I went to the Blade HQ website to see how my impulse control was working. I was doing pretty good until I decided to see if there was anything read more new in Elementums. Brown Micarta. Impulse control is still busted, but it's a beautiful knife. Every once in a while I will cut something up with it. Most of the time I just look at it, play with it, and put it back in my pocket. I'm easily amused. What a great knife. Great selection. 3 day delivery. Impulse control is not all that it's cracked up to be.

Instant Classic

Gotta love this knife for $50. Sharp, deep carry clip, D2 steel, micarta....Hard to beat. Flipper tabs hurts my finger sometimes, but overall very happy with it.

Stiff Action - Feels rough when opening.

Jeff B.

To bad as this would be a nice knife if it were not for the action. Stiff and feels like there is sand in the mechanism.

Great for the office

Randy P.

This is great for use at the office in the pocket of my khakis and looks very classy at the price. The blade is small enough to not be too intimidating but large enough to get work done. The Micarta feels great in the hand - I see what all the fuss is about now. It is also a great knife if you feel the need to fidget as well.

So far it's great!

With it being a Chinese made knife, I had my reservations about it but so far it's a really great, well constructed, knife. I'm going to make this my everyday carry going forward and I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a really good, inexpensive option.

Surprisingly high quality knife!

First off, I'll just say that looking back to write this review I realized that the product photo here for "Brown Micarta" is actually much darker and saturated than the real product. For me, that's a good thing. The actual knife is more muted almost tan/gray color and looks really nice with the black accents and hardware.

Like almost all the other reviews have mentioned, read more this knife has incredible action. Honestly, I own/use/collect a lot of pocket knives and this may be the smoothest action of them all, it is buttery smooth and feels perfect with the weight of the knife which actually feels like you have something to hold onto and isn't too light. It's very sharp out of the box and has quickly become my new favorite EDC.

You would be hard pressed to find a better knife at this price point. I bought the Benchmade Bugout in the same order from BladeHQ which is almost 3x the price and I think I may actually prefer this Elementum. Not to say the Bugout isn't great in its own right but there is something about the simplicity and minimalism of this CIVIVI that really stands apart. I think anyone who appreciates a good old fashioned pocket knife probably NEEDS this in their collection.

Smooth, snappy and solid

Kevin J.

This is such a smooth, snappy and solid little knife. Glad that I went with the brown micarta scales. I read reviews about the micarta texture being too smooth but mine came perfectly textured on each side as you would expect micarta to be. Great, budget friendly, EDC knife.

Justified Hype

Michael M.

Beautiful fit and finish, razor sharp out of the box, and a nice pouch. Worth the $52 price point.
The only down side is the pocket clip, hate it! The way I hold the knife to flip it causes the pocket clip to dig into my finger which is quite annoying.
If MXG Gear would make an aftermarket clip i would definitely buy it. Would it be half the cost of the knife? Yes. Worth it? read more Absolutely worth it to make this knife my favorite EDC knife.

Great Design But Weak Detent

Ben W.

I started eyeing the Elementum when it first hit the market and finally pulled the trigger on my order the day the micarta version was released. Unfortunately, when it arrived, I found the detent to be far weaker than my other Civivi knives (2 Baklashes and 1 Praxis). It's got drop-shut action on the close, but the flipper tab has so little snap that it fails to fully deploy the read more blade probably 40% of the time that I try to open it.

The dimensions, feel in hand, and overall design are a homerun in my book, but the weak detent was a real disappointment.

Overall, I still like the knife and carry it often, but it would be an absolute 10/10 if they had nailed the detent.

Luv this EDC

The Civivi Elementum is an instant classic in the EDC world. The lightweight feel of this knife is immediately comfortable in your hand and ready for everyday use. I've got knives I paid much more for, but this is the one I use the most. Just love the design and has me definitely considering other Civivi models.

Good, affordable EDC knife

Very nice little knife that I've carried with me since it arrived. Sharp out of box and nice action. Good weight and handy just to have around.

Good all around pocket knife

This is a great carrying knife. It was sharp out of the box, with good alignment and action. I've had it for a couple of weeks and have not yet felt the need to take it apart. I've touched the edge up on a strop a couple of times it's holding up very well.

It's a great value for the price. Don't hesitate to order one.

Great knife at a great price!

Order my Elementum from BladeHQ Brown Micarta. This knife looks and feels great and I have friends drooling over it already. Came very sharp and I made a slight adjustment on it. Fantastic value, I highly recommend it!

Quality knife at affordable cost!

Build quality look and feels premium. Blade is sharp straight out of the box. Liner lock is at 30 percent.Used it for edc and glides smoothly through thick carton boxes. D2 blade held up well. I really like the deep pocket clip. Makes the knife concealed and seated well in the pocket. You can barely notice it.The micarta scale handle is a little smooth but could still tackle heavy read more task without sliding. All the good features at affordable cost. I'm impressed with this quality budget knife from civivi. Thanks blade HQ!!!

4 stars but worth buying for sure....

Jay E.

I bought this knife mainly because the black G10 was out of stock, I was very impressed with the knife, action is smooth as butter and the D2 blade is scary sharp out of the box and the instructions tell you so. The main reason I gave it 4 stars was the Micarta scales, one side is slick as ice and the other (clip side) is slightly textured. I suppose to help with clip/pocket retention? read more Anyway, the knife disappears in your pocket and you'll almost forget it's there. Nice EDC knife overall and liked it so much I bought the Ebony wood scaled version for my collection. You can't go wrong with this knife for the money! Also want to remind other knife makers, it IS possible to make a quality knife with nice blade steel that is a good value to your consumers and you don't have to BILLBOARD the knife to hell and back to promote your Brand! I have to take my hat off to Civivi for their attention to detail on that with this knife. I will definitely watch their future offerings just because of this. Everyone has to admit, this company puts out quality blades at a good price point for the consumer! Thanks Civivi and Blade HQ.

Decent knife overall but mine has a weak detent

Aaron S.

I ordered this last week and it arrived today. I’ve heard/read a lot of great reviews of this knife. The main highlight of all the rave review is the action. Either I’m in the minority on what constitutes great action or I got a dud. The detent on mine is soft, and it’s fairly easy to get it to fail to fully deploy. Wanted to love this knife and now I’m on the fence about read more keeping it.

Maybe a tad disappointed

Overall I do like the knife.
I like the size, looks, and function of the Knife. I was slightly disappointed in the pocket clip retention and the very smooth micarta. However, well worth $52

Solid but...

This is a lot of knife for the price. Great materials & blade. Sharp, centered, & no blade play. I really love the simplistic design & look of the elementum. The brown micarta looks great too. But...

The flipper action was *poor* out of the box & needed attention. It has since been remedied, but still disappointing. I own other civivi knives & the action on the elementum read more just isn't the same.

I still love this knife & carry it frequently. If BladeHQ ever gets the ebony wood version back in stock, I may buy another one!

Over-hyped

Justin L.

I bought into the hype. Everyone seems to love this knife, so I bought this version and the blue one.

The micarta is nice but a little slick at first. It'll rough up a little bit over time. The ergos are okay, and I haven't noticed any hot spots, but you probably won't find it to be too comfortable if you have large hands.

Both of mine came razor sharp out of the read more box, and I don't think there's anything else I can add to the reliability of D2. What really sold me on the knife was the action. You definitely do not get that action out of the box. I don't know if We is trying to crank out extra due to the demand, but both of mine were gunked up with oil. Take them apart and wipe everything down, then add a little Nano oil or something. My blue one now flies. However, my micarta one had a weak pivot screw, and it stripped when I was making a slight adjustment to it after I put it back together. It wasn't covered under the warranty, but We USA shipped me a new screw set promptly for $11.

Overall, I do like the knife. They're mostly made well but require a little work when you get them. I also bought a Hooligan with the snake skin micarta. It's around the same price, but you get much better ergos and a great product right out of the box. It's not a flipper, but the thumbstud deployment is smooth and the blade fires right out.

Great Knife

This knife arrived shaving sharp out of the box. It is pretty and super fun to mess with. Both the locking open and the little snap when it closes are extremely satisfying. I would highly recommend it. I have large hands so it is a little on the small side for me but when I want a knife that will not be noticed in my pocket and still perform well, this certainly fits the bill. Great read more value too.

Elementum Micarta

Todd t.

Fit and Finish are outstanding, seems pretty tough I already dropped it once no issue, like the Micarta grip, really good looking, like the size it disappears in my pocket and scary sharp. Marked down one star because the detent is still really stiff for just playing with it. The plus is once it breaks loose I can't make it fail. If this loosens up abit it will be five stars.

Perfectly Good EDC Knife

JASON H.

After months of watching several YouTube reviewers rave on and on about this knife, I finally pulled the trigger on this micarta version the day it became available, which was by pure chance.

Most notably, the little blade on this knife could be a lesson to other knife makers producing small EDC knives: Please, *more* hollow ground blades. I cannot not stress that enough read more for everyday users that do not require a strong flat grind to cut through tree branches and whatever other tactical fantasies knife consumers (like myself) daydream. Quality D2 steel never fails either for a budget knife. As is expected from CIVIVI, fit and finish are on point with no variations to speak of. Nice, stiff detent that allows the knife to deploy flawlessly while also holding the blade closed without worry. Standard deep carry pocket clip, slim profile, and overall small size allow this knife to disappear into the pocket without a second thought (literally).

All that said, this knife is absolutely forgettable. If it were a human, this knife would be that Eagle Scout from down the street who graduated high school with a solid 3.0 GPA, graduated with a BA in accounting from the college closest to their hometown, got married, had two beautiful children, drives a Honda, and now leads a normal and totally well-adjusted life. Nothing wrong with that at all, but also nothing remarkable.

The Elementum does everything a knife is supposed to do very well. You take it out, you use it, you put it away. Done. You won’t be showing this off to your bros but your friend’s mother might find it cute. This is the sort of knife you gift to your non-knife in-laws so that they have a solid and dependable EDC with a price point to match. This knife will slice apples and open packages all day long, guaranteed.
