Incredible knife; one downside
This knife was exactly what I imagined it would be.
It came sharp as a laser straight out of the box, the action works beautifully every time (although you really should add a drop of oil from time to time), and most surprisingly of all to me, the red coating does not seem to wear off due to use.

yourself, or have it sharpened anywhere but a Microtech approved armorer unless you don't care for the warranty. Then again, trying to sharpen the ultra-hard Elmax is like trying to sharpen a diamond with a piece of gravel.
All in all, I am extremely impressed with the knife. I carry it every day and it has come in handy as a one handed pull and draw several times when I've been at work (and when fighting filthy rebels).
Beautiful and solid but...
This knife could be better. I still give it 5 stars though because of it's incredible action, light weight, looks, and excellent ergonomics on the grip.

the thumb pushing is quite different than that of the thumb pulling and the slopes on the front and back of the slide should be optimized for each action. I'm fairly strong but with sweaty hands it's very hard to retract the blade of this Ultratech.
Having said that I do want to give accolades to the one manufacturer that gets this and has created a perfect thumb slide. It's H&K and the model is the turmoil. Perfect perfect thumb slide. I hope others learn from them.
