About Microtech Ultratech D/E OTF Automatic Knife CC (3.4" Black) 122-1

This Ultratech features a double-edged dagger blade with a black finish and plain cutting edges. It has a contoured, black anodized 6061-T6 aluminum handle with a bead blast finished pocket clip, glass breaker, and stainless steel hardware. Microtech equipped this version of the ever popular Ultratech D/A OTF knife with a smooth, contoured handle design that promotes increased comfort during use. This updated MODel provides the same dimensions, hardware, and durability offered by the "Tri-Grip" variation, but goes easier on the hands and pockets. For those unfamiliar with the Ultratech, it's a fully automatic knife with a double-action out-the-front mechanism, meaning the thumb slide deploys the blade and retracts it as well. The Ultratech knife from Microtech has set the bar for All OTF Knives. Check out our Microtech Ultratech Review to see what makes this the King of OTF!

Most Popular Microtech OTF

I just bought one of these knives a few days ago from my local dealer. I have owned several of the Ultratech models over the years and cannot say enough about how great of a knife they are! I have been collecting Microtech knives since 2001 and can say firsthand that the quality of every one of these knives is second to none! Microtech is quickly approaching the 100,000 serial read more number mark on the Ultratech model which in itself says something. They have made more and sold more of this model over any other model they have ever put out not to mention its there most popular OTF. And in my honest opinion I think a lot of the reason for this is the price alone. This model is very modestly priced in comparison to most all their other models they offer. I bought my very first Ultratech back in 2001 and it had the exact same blade style as this current one being the D/E black blade but back then they cost $500.00 so the price has dropped significantly since those days for this particular model. This hasnt been the case on other models like The Halo, Nemesis, Troodon, Combat Troodon, Cypher, and so on. The fit and finish on these knives are second to none with an extremely smooth action and very tight lock up! I cant say enough about the fine craftsmanship that shows in each and every one of them!! Also Microtech offers a lifetime guarantee on all their knives which actually I had to use once many years ago. The mainspring on one of my Ultratechs back then broke and so I sent it back to them and they fixed it with no issues whatsoever and the total turnaround time was around 9-10 days. I couldnt ask for any better service than that. So needless to say I am a very firm believer in the Microtech brand and would highly recommend any Microtech knife to anyone interested in buying a high quality piece of precision craftsmanship that will serve them long and well!!

Great knife

Came out of the box sharp. The button was a little harder than I thought to activate but I see why. The blade fires out of the handle. Excellent knife and for a microtech OTF worth the price.

The quality is outstanding. But..

I really like this knife. Let me start out like that. Two things I don't like and they aren't major issues. The gimping on the open to close switch was rather sharp on it's edges. A wire brush grinder or some sand paper to smooth out the edges will fix that. Also the end of the pocket clip could be smoothed out. Rather sharp there too. As far as blade play it's very minimal. Blade read more play is to be expected with out the front knives. Pretty solid lock considering the design. And, I own some cheaper one's that have excessive blade play. That rattle like a baby rattler. This knife is excellent and blade play is so minimal it doesn't have that trait. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a high quality otf knife. It's a Micro Tech money spent well.

This thing is slick

And if its slick enough for the "WICK" then its slick enough for me....just kidding I frickin love this thing though. I own the tri-grip version and I can't find one flaw with this knife. It's also the sharpest knife I have ever seen right out of the box. If you got the means I highly recommend. Just look at it.

Well worth the price

At first the price tag was scary, but when I finally broke down it was more than worth it. I'll carry this knife with me till I die.

It is what it is.
